"Watch the cruise ships and Hurtigruten saili along the fjord. Watch the great cormorant flap away. See the white-tailed eagle sail over the landscape and hear its call over the fjord. Watch the great grey heron wade at the water's edge. Here lives the tern, the cuckoo and the swallow. The fish are jumping. You can see the herring boil in the fjord. Here swims the porpoise. Here are otters, deer and moose. And the sheep grazing in the beautiful cultural landscape. Here are good moments for young and old."

History of Rossvika

Rossvika farm has likely been run as a traditional agricultural and horticultural farm since the 18th century. Now the farm is run organically with sheep as grazing animals. Their grazing helps to maintain an important cultural landscape and the habitats on site.

Rossvika was in operation as a trading post from about 1650-1940. It housed a steamship expedition, a large herring farm/fishing pier, an inn, a liquor store and a bakery. It was also home to Leka's first post and telegraph station.
